Claxton Knowles, Sr was born on 23 March 1936 to the late Tyntz and Jessie Knowles. He married the late Marcella Martin in 1955 and from that union they have 4 children.

Claxton was a native of Powell County. He was a member of West Bend Baptist Church, Clay City, KY, where he was a supportive member.

Claxton worked for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company until they moved. Although he had no formal training, he excelled with his natural God-given talent for bricklaying and general construction.

He liked to be around people and truly enjoyed cooking up some good food and sharing it with folks. Especially loved listening to & playing the Blues on harmonica and guitar with friends.

He is survived by two daughters: Brenda (William) Willoughby, Saginaw, Mi and Lisa Knowles, Winchester; three sisters: Adaline (Jim) Anderson, Golden (Mike) Pollard, Seldon (Don) Sullivan, and Jewell (Bro CW) Owsley; three grandchildren: Shannon Knowles, Reginald Knowles, Jr., and Nathan Knowles; a special niece Tina (James) Boxx, several great-grand-children, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was proceeded in death by two sons: Claxton S. (Brenda) Knowles, Jr. and Reginald L. Knowles, a granddaughter Natasha Knowles; 2 sisters and 5 brothers.

Services will be at 11:00AM, Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the Westbend Baptist Church in Clay City, KY, by Rev. John C. Taylor. Burial will follow in the Cooper Martin Cemetery. Services will be streamed via Scobee Funeral Home Facebook.
