The Winchester City Commission met for their regular meeting the evening of Tuesday to approve the second reading of an ordinance setting the tax rate of motor vehicles for the calendar year of 2022 – as required by KRS 182.487 prior to the Oct. 1 deadline.

Winchester Mayor Ed Burtner estimates this tax rate to have gone unchanged for more than 35 years. The tax will be collected by the Clark County Clerk each month. Four percent of the tax money will remain with the clerk’s office, with the rest going to Winchester’s general fund.
