The city of Winchester celebrated the completion of the Lower Howards Creek Water Treatment Plant with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday.

The newly constructed plant, located on Boonesboro Road, is rated to treat millions of gallons of water on a daily basis. The city approved plans for the facility in fall 2017 and broke ground on it in March 2018.

Winchester Mayor Ed Burtner said he sees the plant’s opening as a significant achievement for the town.
