A Winchester pharmaceutical facility will break ground on a facility expansion Friday at 11 a.m.

Catalent Pharma Solutions will add 15,000 square feet that will include 100 new office spaces, a new training facility and a new customer experience area.

The $5 million project is the first major office expansion since the facility was completed in 1992.

Catalent is the largest private employer in Clark County and the largest pharmaceutical company in Kentucky. It currently employs 680 people at its 180,000 square foot facility.

The Winchester facility is part of Catalent’s Softgel and Oral Technologies business unit. It has developed over 100 commercial products and produces over 3 billion doses of medication a year.
