I know I’m already old news since you’ve already read some of my stories by now, but I think it’s rude not to introduce yourself, so here it goes: my name is Warren Taylor, and I’m the sort of new reporter at the Sun.

I grew up down the road in Paris and now hang my hat in Lexington with my fat tabby cat, Noel.

As far as writing goes, I’ve covered events and topics all across the spectrum. I spent four years covering UK athletics for two websites, A Sea of Blue and Cats Illustrated; my main beats were women’s basketball and softball.

It may be hard to believe, but I’ve actually “covered” professional wrestling for a few outlets; think of it like reviewing a movie, just one where two people pretend to fight!

My most recent gig was writing for my hometown paper, The Bourbon County Citizen, where my primary responsibilities were covering the city commission and the county fiscal court.

While all that was going on, I worked on my journalism degree at UK part-time and finally graduated this May. I also have a history degree from Georgetown College.

I still have a keen interest in American history, particularly the Revolutionary War, Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. I love to read, mainly historically non-fiction and fantasy novels. I also enjoy podcasts and terrible movies.

The most important thing you need to know about me is that I’m here to give you the best information possible about local affairs. Call me Clark Kent, but I believe that an informed public is essential to our democracy now more than ever.

If you should ever need me, I’m an email away at warren@winchestersun.com.
