Lyrics to the Eagles’ classic song “Life in the Fast Lane” come to mind when writing about the Cards’ swim team’s victory over Bourbon County’s Colonels Wednesday at the College Park Fitness Center.

Try to get that song out of your head while pondering how every Cards’ swimmer was racing and pacing in the fast lane will surely blow your mind. Cards’ girls’ team defeated the Bourbon’s girls 91-63 while the Cards’ boys’ team captured top honors 73-25 at the dual meet, first home meet of the season.

“I am very pleased with our performance against Bourbon County,” Cards’ Coach Ashleigh Richardson said. “We do have some things to work on and improve, but I believe we are headed in the right direction. Being able to get a win for our first home meet of the season was great.”

Crowd cheered as Cards’ Libby Taylor won both of her events (200-yard individual medley and 500-yard freestyle) and Grace Owen (100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke) conquered the waves.

The women’s 200-yard medley relay which consisted of Frankie Schepers, Grace Owen, Libby Taylor, and Harper Sebulsky out-touched Bourbon by over 10 seconds.

Sean Rogers had a good performance in the 500-yard freestyle, taking one for the team to score us some extra points.

Next stop for the Cards’ swim team is a home meet Dec. 4 against Berea/Madison Southern.
