By Eugene Morton Anti-Semitism (hatred against Jews) is unique among the various hatreds present in our world. No hatred against any group of people can compare to anti-Semitism for a number of reasons.
First is its longevity. Hatred for Jews has been around an exceedingly long time. The Babylonians, Persians, Assyrians, Egyptians, Hittites, and the Nazis have all tried to annihilate the Jewish people. Second is its acceptance. Jews are despised nearly everywhere in the whole wide world. History has shown that at various times over the last seventeen hundred years the Jews have been expelled from over eighty different countries. Third is its passion.
Anti-Semitism has always been expressed in a specifically hostile manner.
Of course, like everything else Anti-Semitism did not just burst onto the scene but had a diabolical beginning. The inception of this never-ending practice cannot be found in the library of libraries, but it is revealed to all in the written Word of God.
The Bible, called the book most people never read, has the solution as to why Anti-Semitism flourishes today without any signs of abating or lessening.
In fact, this evil as well as all un-godliness will increase with frequency and intensity as the return of Jesus Christ draws near according to Bible prophecy.
Historians and scholars have written that this animosity towards the nation of Israel is both irrational as well as illogical, and so the root of this obnoxious harassment has remained elusive for most folks and proves that academia is not the right place to find answers to this quandary.
However, the Bible, which has access to both the visible and the invisible realm reveals that the true source and root of all this hatred is none other than the Devil himself and he has a personal agenda.
Knowing its origin and the reasons behind it, helps us understand that Anti-Semitism is utterly logical, systematic, deliberate, and completely understandable.
The beginning of this perpetual enmity has its origin in the Book of Genesis where the Devil or the Serpent deceived Adam and Eve into disobeying God, hereby plunging all mankind into sin.
God immediately announces His plan of redemption (Genesis 3:15) for man as well as pronouncing eternal judgment or damnation upon the head of the Devil. This particular scripture indicates there would be a constant struggle (enmity) between Satan’s seed (the world) and the woman’s seed (the Savior & Jews). Satan has merely followed the line to the correct person, Abraham, the Father of the Jews (Genesis 12:1-3).
When the prophecy of Genesis 3:15 did materialize, Satan did indeed bruise the heel of Jesus with scourging and beatings from His captors. And His cruel death upon the cross was more than lightly a cause for jubilant celebrations in the demonic realm. However, I’m just as convinced that the short-lived celebrations turned to strokes and heart attacks if that were possible when Jesus arose from the dead. The Devil knew his fate was sealed, his head was crushed, and it was set in stone.
When the Devil, the unbelieving Jews, and the Roman leaders crucified the Lord, they had no idea what they were doing. Jesus had already proclaimed how He would redeem man (John 12:32) by saying “If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me.”
This was God’s plan from the beginning, and they were all ignorant of this fact and carried out
redemption through their hatred. I Corinthians 2:8 states “had they known they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory.”
They didn’t understand the hidden wisdom of God and completed their own destruction by this murder on the cross.
From the beginning, the Devil and demons have never ceased from their mission of total annihilation of the Jewish race. Their campaign began in ancient Egypt where the Hebrews were in slavery for 400 years. There Satan had pharaoh decree that all male Jewish males be thrown into the river (Exodus 1:22). That would have eventually spelled doom for Israel if that succeeded. Many nations and empires too numerous to mention have also attempted genocide against the nation of Israel.
The all-knowing omniscient God proclaims in Jeremiah 31:35-37 “only if the sun ceases to light the day, or the stars and moon don’t make their rounds at night, only then will Israel, My chosen, cease to be a nation. You see God stands in the shadows keeping watch over His own.
Again, Satan’s relentless rage against the Jews is seen in the book of Esther. Haman, a high official in that Persian empire, convinces the king to issue a decree that every Jewish person in 127 provinces be killed simply because one Jewish man named Mordecai, refused to bow down to him. But God used beautiful Queen Esther to turn the tables and Haman was hanged on the very gallows he’d prepared for Mordecai.
Then the Roman Empire attacked and destroyed Jerusalem in AD 70 and at least one million Jews perished, and the rest were scattered and was later called the dysphoria. In the annals of history, Adolph Hitler stands in a category all his own. He and his evil henchmen, together with cold calculated precision, planned and carried out the worst mass murder in human history. The Holocaust!
The continued existence of the nation of Israel should be proof to the greatest skeptic that God does exist. Israel would have gone the way of numerous civilizations and would have perished hundreds of years ago had not this great God supernaturally protected them.
The Jewish nation is by no means a perfect people and have made mistakes like all other nations. But it is the only nation where God Himself promises a special blessing if you would but bless them any way you can. Even a prayer for peace for Israel while in their struggles will find favor with almighty God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
After many useless attempts at eradication and extractions from their country, enslavement, the Jewish people still stand with their identity. Despite all attempts to destroy them, God is not finished with Israel yet. Someday this nation will recognize Christ as their Savior and turn to Him (Romans 11:26), and this cannot happen if Israel no longer exists. God has always preserved at least a remnant of the Jews and will continue to do so until His final plan comes to fruition. No amount of anti-Semitism will thwart God’s plan for the Jewish people.
