GRC Boys Basketball
In the White, Greer & Maggard Holiday Classic, the boys’ basketball team was able to win three consecutive games.

Their first contest, a 68-60 win over Woodford County, saw Trent Edwards lead with both 15 points and 10 rebounds. The following night, they took on North Laurel and came out victorious 77-64. While Edwards again had a team-leading 7 rebounds, Jerone Morton came down with 27 points, while Sam Parrish added 19. The next night, they defeated Ballard 65-56 thanks largely to Jerone Morton’s 21 points and Tanner Walton’s 9 rebounds.

When they return for the new year, their first opponent will be Paris at home. After losing six of their last 7 games, the Greyhounds (3-7) have won two of their last three contests.

GRC Girls’ Basketball
Girls’ basketball team traveled to Indianapolis last week to take part in the Vanous Lloyd Christmas Tournament. They defeated McLean County in the opener by a score of 70-19 in which they were led by 17 points from Byars, while Kennedy Stamper contributed 15.

In one of their games Wednesday night, the team defeated Dixie Heights in a thrilling double-overtime game 71-66. It was their second win after regulation in the last three games. They ended regular season play in 2021 – and built upon a 9-game winning streak – with a convincing 57-39 win against Louisville’s Central Catholic Yellow Jackets.

After finishing play in the Christmas Tournament, the girls’ first game of 2022 will be at home against Paris at 6 p.m. on Jan. 4. After beginning the season 1-2, the Lady Hounds have come on strong by winning five consecutive games. This could be an interesting challenge for the Lady Cards.
