George Rogers Clark’s bowling team recently competed in a series of matches, bowled some strikes and scored a victory against a top team to qualify for the semi-finals.
“The local Bowling squad has made tremendous improvements during the 2021-2022 season and hopes to place well in the regional competition to be conducted in two weeks,” GRC Coach Dodd Dixon said.
Last Saturday, the team competed on the regional bowling site at Danville Bowlarama. The tournament involved 10 teams with the Cardinals making it to the semi finals.
Along the way the GRC Bowling team defeated Boyle County. In 2017, Boyle Co won the State Bowling team title and to date the Boyle County team is one of the Best in KHSAA Region 8.
On GRC Senior Night, the team honored seniors Harlee Rose, Cody Cooper, Colton Maples, Jonathan Gardner and Blake Embry. The team went on to defeat regional rival Rowan County 7 to 1 for Senior Night. The team was scheduled to compete this weekend in a tournament in Richmond, but the match was canceled due to weather concerns.
