She is also survived by one great granddaughter, Avery S Eisaman and several nieces and nephews.
Marjorie (known as Margie or Marge) grew up 2 blocks from Edinboro Lake and was an avid swimmer her entire life. She had many extra-curricular activities throughout her childhood and adult life including her paper route (The Grit), basketball, cheerleader, pianist, singer, band (yes, she played the drums!), bike riding and cross-country skiing. She and Chet enjoyed numerous canoe trips as well. She also loved gardening, which she passed on to all her children.
Marge attended Edinboro High School and graduated in 1940. She also graduated from Edinboro State Teachers College (now Edinboro University) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology Education. While at Edinboro College she participated in: Field Hockey, Swim Team, Sorority, Chorus and Yearbook Staff. It was at college that she met her husband, Chet, and they were married on December 8, 1943, prior to Chet going overseas to serve in the Army Air Corps during WWII.
Marge was not an active member of the military, but during WWII, she did become a certified Link Instructor for pilot training. Later she also served as a “Rosie the Riveter” while working on the F4U Corsair at the Chance Vought Aircraft Corporation.
Upon Chet’s return from the service, they built a cottage on Lakeside in Edinboro, and 3 years later moved to Seattle, WA. Eventually, they found their way back to Pennsylvania and in 1959, bought their forever home with 66 acres outside of Wattsburg, PA.
Marge substitute taught in the Wattsburg School system over the years but preferred her role as a stay-at-home mom. After all her kids were on their own, she worked at the Duchess Shoppe in Erie, PA, and was the bookkeeper for Chet’s Commercial Art Business.
She was a member of Wattsburg United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Bible School and was a member of the Women’s Society as well as other committees over the years.
In 2004, Marge moved to Kentucky and has remained there until her death.
Marge will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her positive attitude, sweet nature, wisdom, strength and enduring love of nature, family and people of all kinds will be her legacy.
