GRC Girls Basketball
After defeating Bourbon County on Monday night, the Lady Cards went on to victory against host Montgomery County (19-12) on Wednesday to win the 40th District Tournament.
Despite trailing early, they came back for a convincing 70-53 victory behind Ciara Byars’ season high 35 points and team high 9 rebounds. Tyra Flowers also scored 14 points while Kennedy Stamper had 7 rebounds.
This week, the Lady Cards (27-2) will play in the 10th Region Tournament at Nicholas County High School.
They open on Monday Feb. 28th at 7:45 pm with a game against the Pendleton County LadyCats (17-14). The winner will play at 6:00 pm on Friday March 4 against the victor of Monday’s contest between Bishop Brossart (19-10) and Bracken County (14-10). The 10th Region Tournament Championship game takes place on Saturday March 5 at 7:00 pm.
GRC Boys Basketball
After defeating Bourbon County, the Cards took on Paris in the District Championship game Thursday night at Montgomery County. They came out on top with an overwhelming 114-52 victory against the Greyhounds.
Jerone Morton led the way with 26 points, while Reshaun Hampton and Sam Parrish were close behind with 25 points and 20 points, respectively. Paris was limited to just 34 points over the last three quarters.
This week, the Cards will participate in the 10th Region Tournament at Holmes High School in Covington.
On Wednesday March 2 at 7:45 pm, they take on Robertson County (13-20). The Black Devils feature the state’s second-leading scorer in Justin Becker.
On Monday March 7 at 6:00 pm, the winner of this contest will take on the victor of Wednesday’s game between Mason County (23-5) and Bishop Brossart (12-18). The 10th Region Tournament Championship game takes place Tuesday, March 8th at 7:00 pm.
