Pageturner’s Book Group meets in person once again. It meets twice a month, on the second and fourth Mondays.

This month Pageturner’s meets on Monday, March 14 and Monday, March 28, 11 AM both days.

“Olive, Again,” by Elizabeth Strout is the selection for Monday, March 14.

Olive struggles to understand not only herself and her own life but the lives of those around her in the town of Crosby, Maine. With a teenager coming to terms with the loss of her father, a young woman about to give birth during a hilariously inopportune moment, a nurse who confesses a secret high school crush, or a lawyer who struggles with an inheritance she does not want to accept, unforgettable Olive continues to startle, move, and inspire readers.
The reading for Monday, March 28, is “Behind Every Lie” by Christina McDonald Eva Hansen wakes in the hospital after being struck by lightning and discovers her mother, Kat, has been murdered. Eva was found unconscious down the street. She can’t remember what happened but the police are highly suspicious of her.

Determined to clear her name, Eva heads from Seattle to London—Kat’s former home—for answers. But as she unravels her mother’s carefully held secrets, Eva realizes someone doesn’t want her to know the truth. With violent memories beginning to emerge, Eva doesn’t know who to trust. Least of all herself.

Told in alternating perspectives from Eva’s search for answers and Kat’s mysterious past, Christina McDonald has crafted another “complex, emotionally intense” domestic thriller. Copies of both books are available at the circulation desk. You’ll be registered to attend when you check out a book.

Write Local, the Library’s writing workshop and Meeting of Minds, the Library’s discussion group still meet on Zoom and new participants are welcome.

Write Local meets Friday, March 4 & 18, from 10-11:30 AM. Members of Write local have published non-fiction, fiction, and poetry online and in print. It’s a friendly group of dedicated writers who like to talk craft, kibbutz, and joke. Participants read works in progress, discussion follows. All genres and styles welcome.

The Library’s discussion group, Meeting of Minds, meets Tuesday, March 29, on Zoom.

Conversations at Meeting of Minds range. Meetings do not start with a set topic. After general chit-chat someone introduces a topic, it starts rolling and we follow it. Meeting of Minds (named after the old Steve Allen comedy program) is a place where friends and neighbors share their thoughts in an amicable setting. We converse; we don’t argue.
