After winning the 10th Region Championship Game against Montgomery County on Saturday night, the Lady Cards have been preparing to play in the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 Tournament.

They got their chance on Thursday, March 10, when they take on the Corbin Lady Redhounds at 6:00 pm in Rupp Arena. The Lady Redhounds (25-6) won the 13th Region Championship on Saturday against South Laurel.

Friday night at 8:30 pm, the winner of that matchup will play the winner of the game between 7th Region Champion Sacred Heart (32-3) and 8th Region Champion Anderson County (30-4). On Saturday, March 12, the Final Four and Championship matchup will take place at 1:30pm and 7:00pm respectively.

This week, the Cards (33-1) were victorious in both a Semifinal and Championship game that saw them capture the 10th Region Title.

On Monday night, they defeated the Mason County Royals 57-45 in a gritty defensive matchup. Jerone Morton led the way offensively with 17 points, while Tanner Walton finished as the leading rebounder with 9. The next night, they won their third consecutive 10th Region Championship in an 80-45 victory against the Bracken County Polar Bears (24-10). Morton once again led the team in scoring with 21 points, while 8 Cardinals were able to find the scoreboard.

Next Wednesday, March 16, at 6:00pm, the Cards will open play in the KHSAA Boys Sweet 16 Tournament against the 10 th Region Champion Perry County Central Commodores (29-4) at Rupp Arena.

Two days later, on Friday, March 18, at 1:30pm, the winner of this matchup will face the winner of the game between 13th Region Champion North Laurel (28-5) and 15th Region Champion Pikeville (31-2).

On Saturday, March 19, the Final Four and Championship matchup will take place at 11:00am and 7:00pm respectively.
