Hello Winchester, I have exciting news! My name’s Matt Cizek, and I will be the new Multimedia News Reporter for the Sun.

Some of you may know me already. I covered boys and girls basketball this past year for the paper, and have also been writing about boys baseball since the season started. In my new

position, I may not be covering sports as much, but will still be around town writing about several other events and updates.

As a Chicago native, I personally am a long-time fan of the Chicago White Sox, and enjoy rooting for the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks as well. I have an affinity for the Pittsburgh Steelers, University of Nebraska football, and – of course – University of Kentucky basketball.

Many of my relatives are natives of the Bluegrass State, and I’ve always enjoyed everything that Kentucky has to offer!

Prior to freelance writing in both Kentucky and Illinois, I worked in the public school system as a teacher of language arts for three years, and also as a content writer in the automotive industry. Some may call my path to journalism unconventional…but I just think it was part of a greater plan!
