The voters have spoken!

The people of Clark County have spoken through the ballot box and in some cases they spoke loudly in Tuesday’s primary election.

In five contested Republican primaries for seats on the Clark County Fiscal Court two incumbents fell.

Ernest Pasley defeated District 2 Magistrate Travis Thompson with 53.26 % of the vote.

Challenger Steve Craycraft defeated District 3 Magistrate Joe Graham and Larry G. Hall with 51.18 % of the vote.

Magistrate Daniel Konstantopoulos turned back a challenge from Steven Caudill in District 1 with 57.93 % of the vote.

In District 5, Magistrate Christopher M. Davis beat challenger David M. Stambaugh II with 65.06 % of the vote.

In the race for the Republican nomination to represent District 4, Mark Miller defeated Tom Korb with 72 % of the vote.

The current magistrate from District 4, Greg Elkins, lost his bid for the Republican nomination for Clark County Judge-Executive. Les Yates defeated Elkins and Robert A. Gayheart in the closest race of the night with 46.23 % of the votes. Only 17 votes–1298-1,281–separated Yates and Elkins in the tally.

On the Democratic side of things, Justin Charles defeated Vache’ King with 64.49 % of the vote.

Linda Jako cruised to the Republican nomination for Clark County Clerk. She received 60.33 % of the vote.

The following candidates moved on to the general election in November in the race for four seats on the Winchester board of Commissioners: Kitty Strode, Greg Yates, Shannon Cox, Hannah Toole, Paula Branham Thomas, Kenny Book, Robin Kunkel and John F. Flynn.

Thomas Weston Adams III captured 50.46 % of the vote in Clark County over Rory Houihan for the right to face Rep. Ryan Dotson in the general election for the 73rd District seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives. As of this writing, the race is still to close to call due to outstanding totals in Fayette County.
