Fithen has 19 years of service with CCPS as a middle school language arts instructor, a math instructor at George Rogers Clark High School, three years as an assistant principal at Strode Station Elementary School and as a district instructional specialist.
District officials are excited about Fithen’s selection.
“She has a strong work ethic. She is extremely reliable, dedicated, cooperative, and self-disciplined,” incoming assistant superintendent/chief academic office Julie Bonfield said. “I know that Mrs. Fithen will continue to exemplify greatness in everything she does to make CCPS a high performing district.”
The superintendent agrees.
“I’m very pleased with the committee’s selection of Mrs. Fithen,” Dr. Molly McComas said. “She has demonstrated her passion for supporting building leadership as an Instructional Specialist. She was instrumental in helping our team build new and better systems. It’s going to be exciting to watch her increase levels of supports that positively impact students.”
Fithen received her Bachelor of Science in education with language arts endorsements-grades 5-9 and mathematics-grades 5-12, from Eastern Kentucky University and continued her education there by receiving her Masters of Education in instructional leadership, also obtaining her principal certification. She has also received her Rank I in instructional leadership with endorsements in instructional leadership, supervisor of instruction, director of pupil personnel, and superintendency certification.
Fithen and her family reside in Clark County. She and her husband, Kenneth, have 3 children: Cole, Cade and Kenley. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoys sharing her love for clogging at Studio One School of Dance.
