When the pandemic hit in 2020, former truck driver and nearby resident Jordan Ervin had what some might call an epiphany of sorts.

“COVID opened up my eyes to how important hair services are,” Ervin said. “I thought, ‘What the heck?’ We’ll learn something and see how it goes. I really fell in love with it.”

That desire to learn something resulted in not only attending and graduating from cosmetology school, but also opening up Cutz by Cash, a Winchester hair salon that’s been servicing the community since March.

“Beauty is what you got, style is what I do,” Ervin said. “My middle name is Cash, I love alliteration.”

Ervin’s business offers a number of affordable services. Among a list of many are haircuts, beard trims, manicures and pedicures, deep conditioning treatments, perms, and more.

“I want it to be a one-stop shop,” he added.

As a business owner, a philosophy guides Ervin’s approach to customer service.

“What I believe is that a lot of hair stylists forget fundamentals. It’s important to listen twice as much,” Ervin said. “I have the mentality and values [to succeed]. When people come here, they know they’re going to be treated well.”

Yet, while business growth is certainly imperative, it’s also in the pleasure of seeing clients leave satisfied that the entrepreneur finds joy.

“When they look in the mirror, there’s a brightness about someone that really speaks to me,” Ervin said. “I love what I do, I love people even more. I want everyone to feel comfortable.”

A native of New Orleans, Ervin discovered almost by accident that Winchester was the place to be.

“My fiancé actually lived about three miles from where I live now,” he states. “It just made sense for me to start my life here. I love Winchester.”

With several five-star reviews proving that his business comes highly recommended by former and current clients, it’s fair to assume that Cutz for Cash will be here for some time.
