Justice Elementary School in Winchester has a new principal.

Clark County Public Schools announced the hire of Mary Maldonado in a social media statement Friday.

Maldonado comes to CCPS with over 19 years of experience in education as an intermediate teacher, curriculum coach, professional growth and effectiveness leader, and assistant principal.

The new principal is impressed with CCPS.

“I was impressed by the level of passion and commitment displayed by the Principal Selection Committee. Justice holds a special place in the heart of this community. The future generations of Clark County will be impacted by the work we do in our schools today. I am honored to have been selected and look forward to leading this next chapter for Justice.” Maldonado said.

She earned her certifications as a supervisor of instruction and principal from Asbury University in Wilmore. Maldonado received her masters’ of arts in elementary education from Georgetown College in Georgetown with an endorsement in reading and writing, and also holds a bachelor of arts in elementary education from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

CCPS Superintendent Molly McComas is excited to have Maldonado join the district.

“The structures, expertise, and instructional background that Mrs. Maldonado brings will continue the successful work at Justice.  She values relationships and seeking input from others. This will be invaluable for expanding culture to connect with her school family and community.” McComas said.  “Our principal selection committee appreciated Mrs. Maldonado’s desire to create partnerships with staff, students, and families. We enjoyed the discussion around identifying supports for students in collaboration with teachers.”

Maldonado and her family are already familiar with Winchester and Clark County, having moved here in 2018. She and her husband, Rick, have five children who will attend Justice, Baker Intermediate, and Robert D. Campbell Junior High in the fall.
