COVID-19 cases are rising across the state of Kentucky and Clark County is no exception.

“In the last two weeks, 257 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed locally and the department has been made aware of 15 new hospitalizations.  These factors, have driven Clark County’s community level to high,” said Clark County Public Health Director Becky Kissick.

Per the latest numbers released by the Clark County Health Department on Friday, 195 positive cases were confirmed between June 1-10. If cases keep rising then June will surpass May’s total of 326 cases by the end of next week.

The health department confirmed 133 cases during the week of June 4-10 and confirmed 124 cases during the week of May 31-June 3.

With the county’s transmission level back in the high category residents are advised to wear well fitting masks in all public areas, stay home when sick, follow quarantine protocols if they test positive, avoid crowded public indoor gatherings and keep up to date with vaccinations.

The health department offers vaccination appointments each Tuesday and Thursday. Interested persons can make an appointment by calling 859-744-1488. According to health department data 61 percent of the county’s vaccine eligible population has been vaccinated.

There have been 11,663 positive cases reported in Clark County since the pandemic began in March 2020.
