Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation will hosts its annual Bicycle Rodeo on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Parks and recreation will give away as many as 36 bicycles to local children this year. The funding for the bicycles comes from a grant procured by the Winchester Elks Lodge # 2816.

“They give that to us and we are able to purchase bikes, helmets and other safety gear,” said programs director April Stanfield. “This program has grown over and over. We used to give away just a few bikes and last year we gave away 36.”

Stanfield explained that every child who attends will receive three raffle tickets and will put their tickets in the bag for the bicycle that they hope to win.

“That gives them three chances to win a bicycle,” she said.

Not only will attendees have a chance to win a bicycle but they will also be able to ride through an obstacle course and have their bicycle inspected for safety. Parks and recreation will also provide games and free refreshments.
