The Daniel Boone National Forest, a popular tourist and recreational destination including over 700,000 acres of federally owned land, is seeking to fill an opening on its Daniel Boone Resource Advisory Committee.

Established in accordance with the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000, the committee’s top duties are reviewing and recommending projects to be funded under Secure Rural Schools Title II. These projects should be designed to enhance forest ecosystems, improve infrastructure, and improve water quality as well. Currently, an opening is available for a county or local elected official, school official or teacher, state elected official, or someone representing American Indian Tribes within or adjacent to the Daniel Boone National Forest.

The Daniel Boone Resource Advisory Committee will typically meet a few times every year in order to review project proposals. It is required that members be Kentucky residents. Resource Advisory Committee Members serve a four-year term and represent a wide diversity of interests.
