WMU awarded mark of excellence

The Winchester Municipal Utilities (WMU) Water Treatment Plant was awarded the 2022 Award of Excellence from the American Water Works Association.
This award is given to two water treatment plants in Kentucky and Tennessee. To be eligible the plant has to be nominated and meet certain criteria. Award criteria includes: water quality, operation records, maintenance programs, professionalism, safety, emergency preparedness, use of innovated technology, and plant and system security. The plant cannot receive any notice of violations in the past year to be eligible. If all criteria is met, the plant will be evaluated by an Award Committee. Then a selection made by the committee.
WMU was presented with the 2022 Award of Excellence on July 19that the KY/TN Water Professionals Conference in Lexington.
Also both of WMU’s Wastewater Treatment plants, Lower Howards and Strodes Creek Wastewater Treatment plants were presented with the Clean Water Professionals Outstanding Operations Award for 2022.
