Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

On Monday, August 8, 2022, Suzanne Henry-Garrett, passed at the age of 85. Suzanne was born on October 24, 1937, in Louisville, KY, and lived in Winchester, Ky her entire life. Suzanne loved her church, Belmont Church of Christ, and going to Sunday school and everyone loved her. She was like a magnet when she walked into the room. Had a great sense of humor, always made everyone laugh, never held back whatever was on her mind, and genuinely cared about everyone in her life. She always tried to make the best of everything. “Bloom where you are planted” was her saying. Needlepoint was her passion. Patterns, miles of threads, and her sewing basket were always front row and center in the house. She loved her yard, if she wasn’t mowing she would make sure it was mowed. She was a taskmaster when it came to all yard duties. Her true loves were her boxer pups. She had Sam and then Buster. The world rotated around those dogs and any dogs right up to her last days. Show her a picture of a boxer and she would say “that’s my boy”. Yellow roses were her favorite, long visits to Connecticut to visit her daughter, and being on the phone with her children during every UK basketball game only during commercial breaks and half-time. Suzanne was preceded in death by her father, Charles Ratliff Henry, and her mother, Anabel Brock-Henry, her brother Tom Brock Henry, and her son, Avery Joe Vaughn Jr. She is survived by her husband Robert Garrett, her two children, Gina Brock Cardwell-Becker of Bloomfield, CT, and Mark Ratliff Cardwell of Lexington, KY, and two grandchildren, Jake Vaughn and Shelby Brock Vaughn. Private service with family only. Donations only to Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY, 40504. Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
