Car shows lead the way in upcoming community events

Automobile enthusiasts from throughout the Clark County area have a few events to look forward to this weekend. 

On both Friday, August 19th, and Saturday, August 20th,, car shows will hit the local Clark County area to the delight of dozens. 

To start, Robert Campbell Middle School will host the Hot Rods and History Car Show on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Both the Clark County Winchester Heritage Commission and Holder Entertainment will be present to raise money for the Heritage Commission. The first 30 cars present will receive dash plaques, while trophies are given out based on top-rated vehicles. Concessions and balloons will also be present for the entertainment of viewers. Enjoy tickets to a pig pickin’, Holly Rood Christmas ornaments, and Sphar bricks that will be sold!

In addition, the 6th Annual Forever 17 Car and Bike Show takes place on Saturday, August 20th from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. along Depot Street. 

Registration is $20, and the first 50 registered vehicles will receive dash plaques and goodie bags. A number of awards will be given out – including Best Motorcycle, Best of Show for 1960 & down, and Best Tractor. Concessions, door prizes, and raffle items are also present with all proceeds going to Cystic Fibrosis Services at UK Children’s Hospital. Remember When Cruizers and its affiliates are not responsible for loss or damage.

  • Originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday August 9th, the most recent Legacy Night at Legacy Grove will now occur on Tuesday August 23rd beginning at 5:30 and ending at approximately 7:30. The cancellation and rescheduling took place due to inclement weather. Music guests for the evening are expected to be Night Flyer with Jayce Turley. Food trucks will be present by 5:00 and include Bell On Wheels, Mama D’s, Bella’s Ice Cream Truck, Bert’s SpeakCheesy, Sno Biz, Abettor Brewery, and Harkness Edwards Vineyards. Folding chairs and blankets are welcome, and individuals can cozy up on the lawn and enjoy some tunes! The event is being sponsored by Ale-8.
  • At the Clark County Courthouse on August 30th, the Driver Licensing Regional Office operated by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet presents a Pop-Up Driver’s License & Real ID event. Make an appointment at https://drive.ky.gov/driver-licensing/Pages/Regional-Offices-Map.aspx
  • T.A. Pageant Productions presents the Kentucky State Preliminary on Sept. 10th in Winchester. A $75 entry fee exists, with the top 3 contestants from each division advancing. To learn more, visit Facebook.com/tappnatural.
  • Beginning September 6th, Winchester Clark County Parks & Recreation will begin “meeting you at your local park to play” with its “Pop Up in the Parks” weekly event schedule, undertaken by PMRU (Parks Mobile Rec Unit). Each event takes place on Tuesday afternoon from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. The places for the event are Melbourne Park on Sept. 6th, Wiseman Park on Sept. 13th, Massie Park on Sept. 20th, College Park on Sept. 27th, Heritage Park on Oct. 4th, Fairfield Park on Oct. 11th, and Community/Harmon Park on Oct. 18th.
