GRC boys’ soccer unbeaten in last three

The Montgomery County Indians have had George Rogers Clark number the in the last three District 39 Finals and swept the season series last year.
Last Tuesday, the Cardinals (5-2-2) got revenge with a 2-1 home win over the Indians. Goals by senior striker/midfielder Will Carrington and junior striker/midfielder Clay Turley were the difference-makers.
Carrington would again find the back of the net on Thursday in a 1-1 road draw against Campbell County. Turley assisted on the goal.
The Cards were back in action on Tuesday in a 3-1 win at Connor. Turley bagged two goals. Sophomore midfielder Conner Thorn completed the scoring. Carrington, sophomore midfielder Hayden Cockrell and senior defender/midfielder Max Price all had assists.
Turley currently leads the Cards with four assists on the year and has scored four goals, which is good for second on the team. Carrington’s five goals are tied for the team lead with junior forward/midfielder PK Vogel.
GRC will take on Great Crossing on Thursday at home. The team will then compete in the Purples Classic in Bowling Green during Labor Day weekend.
