Fans of afternoon flicks have reason to rejoice. Starting Wednesday, September 7, 2 PM, and continuing every Tuesday thereafter (except for holidays), the Library’s free movie series, Kentucky Picture Show, returns.
Jennifer and Angela have selected four great movies for September. One is a vintage 70’s classic about high school sweethearts (starring Olivia Newton John and John Travolta), and the other three are films from 2021 and 2022. Licensing doesn’t allow us to tell you the titles of the films here, but there are bookmarks at the circulation desk that give movie titles for the month, and there will be movie posters in the Library lobby. And of course, you can always call the Library.
As in the past, free popcorn and sodas will be available for movie attendees. All movies will be shown in the Rose Mary Codell Brooks Community Room.
Make a date with your friends to come to Kentucky Picture Show on Wednesday, September 7, at 2 PM.
And that’s not all!
Ron Kibbey’s Comedy Classics returns Tuesday, September 13, at 6 PM.
Ron adores old comedies and classic cartoons. On the second Tuesday of each month, he will screen one of each in the Codell Brooks Community Room. Ron also provides short introductions, interesting facts about the cast and the production. Free popcorn and sodas for Comedy Classics, too.
The movie for Tuesday, September 13, stars Laurel and Hardy and deals with their scheme to travel to Chicago for a Lodge Convention. Again, licensing, we can’t tell you the name of the movie here, but there is a bookmark with title at the circulation desk, a lobby poster. Or call me, 859-744-5661, ext.110, and I’ll let you in on the secret. If you know the secret lodge handshake. No wait, we can’t shake hands over the phone. I’ll tell you the title.
The Library’s September newsletter contains schedules for the Kentucky Picture Show, Comedy Classics, and all the rest of September’s Library sponsored programs. Pick up a copy from the Staff Picks display in front of New Fiction.
Starting September 1, the Alice P. Tucker board room will once again be available for meetings. Any person, club, group, or organization that met at the Library before the pandemic began, can simply call and make a reservation for either of the adult services meeting rooms. If you have not previously used the room, please come to the Library to fill out a meeting room application. Applications must be filled out at the Library.
Reference Librarian Angela Turner is offering free Beginning Sign Language classes at the Library on Mondays at 2:30 PM beginning September 19. Come learn some basic signs and phrases. Please sign up by calling the Library at (859) 744-5661. Questions can be emailed to aturner@clarkbooks.org or by calling and asking for Angela.
Have a swell week and a Happy Labor Day Weekend.
