GRC boys’ soccer has three game unbeaten run ended by Great Crossing

The George Rogers Clark boys’ soccer team had a three-game unbeaten streak snapped by the Great Crossing Warhawks last Thursday night, 2-1.

The Cardinals (5-3-3) got a goal from sophomore midfielder Hayden Cockrell. The goal was Cockrell’s first of the season.

However, the Warhawks got a pair of goals from Addison and Carter Dascher to give them the edge in the bird battle.

GRC junior forward/midfielder PK Vogel assisted on Cockrell’s goal. It was his second of the season.

The Cards defeated the Scott Eagles 3-1 last Wednesday behind two goals from junior striker/midfielder Clay Turley. Sophomore midfielder Clay Thorn netted his first goal of the year against the Eagles (2-6-1). Three Cards registered an assist in the victory.

GRC drew 1-1 against the Greenwood Gators (3-4-1) in Bowling Green on Saturday as part of the Purples Classic. Stats were not available as of this writing.

According stats available on the KHSAA website, Vogel and senior striker/midfielder Will Carrington are currently tied for the team lead with five goals apiece so far this season. Turley is second on the team in goals with four and leads in the assist category with four.

The Cards will take to the field at home tonight against the neighboring Bourbon County Colonels at 8 p.m. The Colonels bring a 7-2 record into the match and have outscored their opponents 42-6 this season.

Their homestand continues on Thursday with a match against the Bryan Station Defenders (5-3-1) at 8 p.m, and then the team will hit the road against the 4-5 Corbin Redhounds on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
