Thursday, September 22, 2–4 p.m., reference librarian, and resident crafter, Angela Turner, presents another of her popular Adult Let’s Create Crafts afternoons. Angela usually has several crafts for participants to create. Please sign up by calling the Library at (859) 744-5661.

The Library’s discussion group, Meeting of Minds, meets Tuesday, September 27, 6–7:30 p.m., on the Library’s front lawn (unless it rains, and then we meet on Zoom). Please bring your lawn chair or blanket for lawn sessions.

Conversations at Meeting of Minds range. We usually do not start with a set topic. A topic arises from initial friendly kibitzing. We’re friends and neighbors examining events and issues of the day. We discuss. We don’t argue.

All opinions, perspectives, parties, and persuasions are
welcome. It’s a very relaxed and congenial atmosphere. Members often hang around after the meeting to continue the discussion or share interests and stories.

The Library helps facilitate local groups and clubs by ordering books related to interesting topics. Clubs and groups do not have to pay for these special orders unless they want to have them dedicated. As with any material request, the Library’s ability to add it to the collection depends on its availability, how quickly a vendor processes an order, and the time it takes to catalog the title.

Thursday night, at 9:04 p.m., autumn arrives. The 22nd is also the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. And the beginning of pumpkin spice season.

You can enjoy the Equinox anywhere in Clark County, but this time of year, a trip to the Library is made even more enjoyable by walking around the park in front. The weather is perfect, and the trees are gorgeous. It’s a lovely place to sit and read or have a quiet conversation with a friend, in person, or through Zoom using Library Wi-Fi.

If you stroll up to Holy Rood, you may find some ripe persimmons lying on the ground.
