Lady Cards unbeaten in five matches

The GRC Lady Cards currently sit atop the standings in Region 10 with an 11-3-2 record following a pair of road triumphs over rival Montgomery County and Paris, and a home win over Bourbon County.

GRC defeated Bourbon County in its final home game of the season 1-0 Wednesday evening. Stats were not available at press time.

The Lady Cards traveled to Mount Sterling on Wednesday, Sept. 14, and took down the Lady Indians 4-2. Senior forward Ciana Araya scored twice. Sophomore midfielder Ella Vanhooser and junior midfielder Madison Stapleton also found the back of the net. Sophomore forward Reese Patrick assisted on a goal.

Junior midfielder Allison Stigall netted twice for the Lady Indians.

On Monday, Sept. 19, GRC defeated the Paris Lady Greyhound on their home field 7-0. Sophomore midfielder Madelyn Settles, Araya, and Madison Stapleton each scored two goals. Freshman defender Isabella Chirico also recorded a goal. Senior goalkeeper Winter Brinegar, freshman midfielder McKenzie Stapleton, Madison Stapleton, Araya, and Vanhooser each had an assist.

Through 16 games, Araya leads the Lady Cards with 13 goals and 11 assists. Madison Stapleton has contributed ten goals and 4 assists in 13 games played. Patrick has eight goals and three assists. Vanhooser has four goals and six assists.

The Lady Cards will finish the regular season on the road against Henry Clay on Sept. 26
