The George Rogers Clark Lady Cardinals saw their five-match unbeaten streak and perfect regional record go by the wayside with a pair of losses last week.

A trip to Cynthiana to play the Harrison County Fillies ended in a straight sets loss for the Lady Cards (12-5), 25-20, 25-23 and 25-21.

Junior Kelsey McKeehan paced the Lady Cards’ attack with 26 of the team’s 34 assists to go along with seven kills and 11 digs. Eighth-grader Mia Pendley also had seven kills. Juniors Kameryn Toler and Ella Duncan each had nine digs.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the Sayre Lady Spartans swept GRC in straight sets in Winchester, 25-13 and 25-20. States from the match were not available as of this writing.

The same day, GRC bounced back with a 2-1 win over the visiting Wolfe County Lady Wolves. The Lady Cards won the first set 26-24. Wolfe County evened the match with a 26-24 victory in the second set. GRC pulled out a 29-27 win in the third and deciding set.

Junior Jordan Thompson and senior Abigail Kubican combined for 16 of the Lady Cards’ 33 kills. Lowe contributed 12 digs to the team’s total of 63. McKeehan had 21 of the team’s 28 assists.

The Lady Cards host the rival Montgomery County Lady Indians at home tonight for a 7:30 p.m. match. They will play away at Fleming County on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
