GRC boys’ soccer unbeaten in last six matches

The George Rogers Clark Cardinals are unbeaten in their last six games matches.

The Cards (9-4-6) battled to a 2-2 draw with the visiting Frankfort Panthers on Thursday in their final home match of the regular season. Stats were not available as of press time.

GRC put four goals past Perry County Central last Thursday. Four different Cardinals juniors put the ball in the back of the net: midfielder/striker Joby Mittmesser, striker Jacob Tipton, midfielder/striker Clay Turley and forward/midfielder PK Vogel. Three Cards assisted on goals: senior midfielder/striker Will Carrington, junior defender Jacob Ebert, and senior defender Kyler Gashel.

During a three-match stretch that included victories over Paris and Mason County, GRC outscored its opponents 19-0 and were not scored on in as many games. The Cards had only recorded one shutout all season – on Aug. 20 against Russell High School – before this current stretch of games.

The Cards have a 6-1-1 record against all Region 10 competition and are undefeated against District 39 foes.

According to stats available for 19 games, Turley leads the Cards in goals (12) and assists (6). Carrington has netted ten times this season and also has four assists. Vogel has scored eight times and has assisted twice.

GRC ends the regular season away on Thursday against the Conner Jaguars at 8 p.m.
