According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, a suspect wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation was apprehended in Clark County on Friday.
A sheriff’s deputy noticed a vehicle connected to the unidentified male suspect, who had a federal warrant issued for his arrest earlier in the day, and pulled him over in the vicinity of Flanagan Station Road. The suspect had been under surveillance by local law enforcement for several days, said Sheriff Berl Perdue.
When the deputy left his vehicle, the suspect fled on foot, and a call for backup went out around 11 a.m., according to Perdue.
The Winchester Police Department and the Mt. Sterling Police Department’s K-9 unit helped locate the suspect, who hid about 100 yards from his vehicle.
The sheriff could not confirm social media reports that the suspect was armed because the investigation is under federal jurisdiction.
The suspect is in custody and will be turned over to the FBI.
This is a developing story. The Sun will have more information as it becomes available.
