Barbara Perkins Ritchie, born February 19, 1931, died December 11, 2022 at the age of 91. She was the daughter of the late John Bosley Perkins and Ruth Conder Perkins, wife for 70 years to Don Richard Ritchie, mother of Don Cody (Loretta) Ritchie, Dana Ruth Spalding and Melissa Duane Ritchie and grandmother of Brian Thomas (Katrina) Spalding and Jeffrey Lawrence Spalding. Barbara was born and raised in Lexington and lived in Mt. Sterling and Winchester. She worked for the Lexington Police Department as Secretary to Chiefs Hale and Espy Hedger. Beauty is one word to describe her because not only was she beautiful on the outside but inside too. She crocheted afghans, decorated her home, cooked delicious meals, listened to classical music and read poetry to her children. She loved children and dogs and was a friend to all. She touched the hearts of all who knew her and our world was made more beautiful. Visitation will be Friday, December 16th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 248 S. Main St., Winchester, KY at 10:00 am and a Memorial Mass at 12:00 noon immediately following. Burial will take place at the Lexington Cemetery, 833 W Main St., Lexington, KY.
