Jerry Wayne Wilson, formerly of Winchester, Kentucky died peacefully on January 21, 2023, at the age of 74 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Son of Virgil Hedges Wilson, and Bessie Louise Cuddy, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joy Wilson; a son and two daughters, Jerry Dale Wilson, Amy Lanham, Ashley Wiemer; and two brothers, Steve, and Keith Wilson. He was preceded by one grandchild, Molly Kate Wiemer.
Jerry was born in Clark County and graduated from George Rogers Clark High School. He attended Morehead State University and graduated in 1971 with a business and teaching degree. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. He was a retiree from Rockwell International and the Bluegrass Army Depot in Richmond, Kentucky. Jerry had many business adventures including owning and operating JR Food Mart, All Star Sports, and served Clark County as a real estate broker.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Jerry simply loved to go places, loved music and cars, but most of all loved having fun and joking with those he loved. Of course, we can’t forget McDonalds and the love he had for those Happy Meals. Everyone who knew Jerry knew of his gentle and giving spirit. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he loved to share the gospel.
Our family would also like to extend a special thank you to Smoky Mountain Hospice in Tennessee for their diligent help and care.
A celebration of life was held at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at the Leon Pace Memorial Chapel.
