Bobby L Bratton, 87, died on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Fountain Circle Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 28, 1935, in Owingsville, KY, the son of Thomas and Flo Lisle Bratton.
Bobby graduated from Winchester High School, Class of 1954. Attended Georgetown College where he served as President of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and played Football for the Tigers earning a bachelor’s degree in Arts, Class of 1958. He furthered his education at University of Kentucky with a Master of Arts Degree in 1961.
Bobby was married to Joanna Cutter (Sadler) on August 31,1958, and had two children, Dr. Robert Lisle Bratton (Linda) and Lori Bratton Wood Case (Eric).
In the late 60s, Bobby started in the building business and completed approximately 180 homes in Lexington. In 1969, He started his own Real Estate Inspection and Appraisal Company. In 1971 he added his brokerage license and continued until his retirement in 2012.
During Bobby’s retirement he spent countless hours donating his time and energy to the Clark County Library helping the genealogical files get updated which earned him the key to the city. Bobby loved to help anyone and any organization when it came to ancestry! He was invited multiple times to the Daughters of American Revolution meetings because of his advocacy in helping the ladies research the historical genealogy they needed. Along with his research, he also loved to needlepoint and stitched many pieces that were exhibited for all to see at the Clark County Library.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Betty Castillo of St. Petersburg, Fl. Surviving are his children, Dr, Robert Lisle Bratton (Linda), Lori Bratton Wood Case (Eric) both of Lexington; five grandchildren, Davis Bratton, Robert Bratton, jr, Brian Clark Wood, jr., Thomas Wood, and Hewitt Wood. A niece and two nephews and many cousins.
A graveside service of remembrance will be held Friday, February 17, 2023, at 1PM at Winchester Cemetery Layne Shelter. Those who wish to remember Bobby may make gifts in his memory to the Clark County Library. Arrangements by Scobee Funeral Home. Online guestbook at www.ScobeeFuneralHome.com.
