Wintry weather causes issues on I-64, Mountain Parkway in Clark County

Clark County saw a light dusting of snow Tuesday morning, and Old Man Winter’s return caused issues on local roads.

According to information provided by Winchester EMS, there were seven motor vehicle accidents in a two-hour window early Tuesday morning, with six occurring on the Mountain Parkway and Interstate-64.

Battalion Chief August Fisher of the Winchester Fire Department confirmed a handful of injury collisions that resulted in motorists being transported to Clark Regional Medical Center. Thankfully, none of the injuries suffered were life-threatening.

The accidents closed both lanes of the Mountain Parkway and the eastbound lane on Interstate 64 at mile-marker 102 for several hours. The roads were back open by early afternoon.

The National Weather Service office in Lousiville forecasts temperatures will rebound to 60 degrees on Thursday before falling into the 40s by Sunday. Rain showers are expected later in the week.
