Lady Cards look to end losing skid going into the weekend

The GRC Lady Cards are in the midst of a five-game slide after starting the season 2-0.
The Lady Cards (2-5) lost their last outing at 13th Region foe Corbin 13-3. Stats for the contest were not available as of press time.
Coach Connie Whittington-Hill’s squad squashed Paris 18-4 in their season opener on March 14 in a run-ruled game and continued their winning ways the next day with a 6-4 victory over Bath County.
During a three-game road swing from March 17-22, the Lady Cards lost to Bryan Station (17-5), Wolfe County (6-4) and Rowan County (8-5).
The team’s return home on March 23 was a 13-1 defeat at the hands of Assumption.
So far this season, the Lady Cards are getting the bulk of their offense from Lilliana Hall, Ryleigh Vanhoose and Adddison Wilson.
Hall, an eighth-grade catcher and pitcher, leads the team in hitting with a .476 average, RBIs (seven) and extra-base hits (6).
Vanhoose, a senior, plays the hot corners for the Lady Cards and is hitting .474 with three RBI.
Wilson, a sophomore catcher, is hitting .389 with six RBIs.
Eighth-grader Arabella Guinn has anchored the Lady Cards in the circle and is 1-3 on the season. Through 22 innings pitched, she has an ERA of 8.05 and has struck out 21 batters against 25 walks.
Hall has won two outings in the circle this season and has a 3.00 ERA with 33 strikeouts against nine walks.
The Lady Cards are back in action at home Thursday against North Laurel. The first pitch is at 6 p.m.
They will hit the road Friday to take on rival Montgomery County. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
