Traffic stop leads to drug arrest for Winchester man

A Winchester man faces drug charges after a traffic stop last Friday.

According to the arrest citation, a vehicle being driven by 39-year-old Ron Brooks traveling east on Washington Street. Brooks was pulled over by Winchester Police for not having a properly illuminated rear license plate.

The arresting officer states in the citation that they asked Brooks to exit the vehicle and speak with them. Brooks gave consent for the officer to search him. The search allegedly yielded a “crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine inside of a rolled up receipt” inside of a leather wristlet that Brooks was holding and a cut pen.

Brooks allegedly told the officer that the substance was methamphetamine and that “he used the pen to snort narcotics,” according to the citation.

He was arraigned on Wednesday in Clark County District Court.
