After the George Rogers Clark Cardinals (21-11) won back-to-back games against Martin County and Paris by a combined score of 31-2, they looked to continue their winning ways.

Following consecutive losses by the slimmest of margins, they got back on track Monday and Tuesday.

In their first game following a win over Paris, the Cards took on the Mercer County Titans on Wednesday, May 3.

Despite a pair of RBIs from Abrahm Howard and Chase Wheeler, they fell by 6-5.

Caden Spicer also helped the Cards offensively by delivering two hits, including a double, while scoring a run.

Last Saturday, the Cards got stellar relief pitching from Jordan Soliz, who pitched two innings of no-hit baseball while striking out four batters.

Unfortunately, the team came shy of victory in a 4-3 loss to the Bath County Wildcats (18-15) at the David Iery Classic in Owingsville.

Brady Davis and Jake Sears had two of the Cards’ three hits, both doubles.

The Cards returned to Winchester on Monday night to take on the Madison Southern Eagles.

Against a team that had defeated them earlier this season, the Cards roared to a 7-2 victory led by three hits from both Davis and Kamden McAlpin and a three-RBI night from Spicer.

Shining on the pitcher’s mound, Davis also got the win in relief as he struck out all three batters he faced, while Keyonte Back struck out three batters over three innings to earn the save.

The Cards followed up by defeating the Bourbon County Colonels on Tuesday night, 10-0 in six innings.

Soliz pitched a complete game two-hitter, while Howard led the team with three hits and four RBIs.

The Cards received additional support on offense from J.P. Gaines, Carter Maynard, and Ben Fulks.

GRC defeated Mason County on the road, 14-8, Wednesday. They close the regular season on Saturday against Williamstown.
