Every year, graduation brings joy to seniors who have worked hard for four years and celebrate moving on to the next stage in life.

Friday, May 26 will be no different, as 394 students will walk across the stage at Cardinal Stadium to obtain their diplomas from George Rogers Clark High School beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Below is some information attendees will need to know.

Parking

Parking will be abundantly available in and around GRC

Those present may park near the athletic facility, student lot, faculty parking lot, and other areas of the campus.

As with sporting events, this includes limited space along the grass on the road directly behind Cardinal Stadium.

School resource officers will be present to guide those to a parking spot, with special parking available closer to the stadium for the elderly and others with unique physical needs.

Golf carts will also be present to transport individuals closer to the stadium on an as-needed basis.

Parking will also be available at Christview Christian Church, located at 3133 Boonesboro Road.

Those who park at Robert D. Campbell Junior High School will receive a shuttle to and from George Rogers Clark High School.

“Plan on a lot of traffic,” said GRC Principal Jamie Keene.

Keene recommends that, in order to avoid challenges that might cause them to miss a portion of the ceremony, those wishing to attend the ceremony arrive by approximately 6:00 p.m.

“The earlier [you arrive}, the better,” he added.

All parking for the ceremony is free.

Weather

As of Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service office in Louisville forecasts partly cloudy skies on Friday with a low of approximately 50 degrees and a less than 10% chance of rain.

If inclement weather strikes and the ceremony needs to be postponed, it will move to Saturday at either 12:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. depending on when the sky is most transparent.

There are no tentative plans to move the ceremony indoors to GRC Arena.
