Grant Delaney Ashcraft was born at Clark Regional Medical Center on June 3, 2023, to Nicholas and Brooklyn Ashcraft of 144 Fuller Way in Mt. Sterling, KY, 40353. Maternal grandparents are Suzanne Middleton of Georgetown and John Ramey of Winchester, along with his wife Sharon. Paternal grandparents are Bearl Ashcraft Jr. of Beattyville, and Kelly Spencer of Campton along with her husband Frank.
Landmark Baptist VBS
Vacation Bible School takes place at Landmark Baptist Church on 123 Ironworks Road from June 12-15 between 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The theme is “Setting the Captive Free”. For a ride, contact us at 859-744-7171. A bounce house will be present on Thursday, June 15. Food will include pizza, nachos, and hot dogs, with an opportunity to win a hoverboard as well.
Juneteenth and more
The Winchester Black History & Heritage Committee is putting on a Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Park, located at 131 W. Washington Street. The guest speaker is Dr. James Thurman with music by Mario Webb & New Covenant Mass Choir. Bring your lawn chair & let’s celebrate together. The event will include authors, soul food, music and dance vendors, games, face painting, storytelling, along with children’s bouncy area & activities.
The committee’s “Between The Lines” book club will meet at the Clark County Public Library Saturday, June 24, at 2 p.m. The group will be reading “Somebody’s Daughter” (an Oprah Book) by Ashley C. Ford. The novel is about trauma, grief, and a family’s secret. Neal Howard is the facilitator. Copies of the book are available at the library’s front desk. Everyone is invited!
Hot Rods for History
On Saturday, June 24 at 6 p.m., the Clark County-Winchester Heritage Commission presents Hot Rods for History, hosted by Holder Entertainment. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Robert D. Campbell Junior High School, located at 620 Boonesboro Road. Dash plaques will be provided to the first 30 cars, with trophies for top cars. Raffles and a 50/50 will take place. Those interested in showing a vehicle must pay a $20 registration fee, with registration closing at 4 p.m. For vendor booth rental or questions, contact Steve at 859-749-3174 or Paula at 859-595-9848.
Parks and Rec Bicycle Rodeo
A bicycle rodeo is set to take place on Saturday, June 24, beginning at 9 a.m. The event, which will be held at Lykins Park and will be hosted by Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation. It will teach about bike safety instruction and challenges, host a bike riding practice course, and have a bicycle raffle, popsicle, and games. Attendees are asked to bring their own bike and helmet, with bicycles available on loan for those who need them. The event is free for those aged 3-15. Attendees must pre-register by June 15 to guarantee an event shirt! Registration can take place at wccpr.recdesk.com.
