Helen Snowden Hannan, 89, passed away peacefully holding her daughters’ hands, surrounded by her family’s love on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester. She was born on September 13, 1933, in Clark County, and was the daughter of the late Goebel Lewis and Stella Mae Hopper Snowden. Helen began working in the Clark County Courthouse as a Deputy Sheriff when her father was Clark County Sheriff. She then began working in the County Clerk’s office and retired after many years. Helen worked for her brother, Dr. Eugene L. Snowden, after retirement when needed. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church. Helen loved her family and friends, and her greatest joy was being with them. She enjoyed travelling and following her grandchildren in all their many sports and activities. Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. Eugene L. Snowden, and Goebel L. Snowden Jr. (infant) and her sisters, Irene Estes, Geneva Roberts, and Nell Orme. She is survived by her daughters: Pamela W. Schneider, Lexington, and Mary Ann (Donnie) Columbia of Winchester; 4 grandchildren: Buddy Schneider III, Dr. Benjamin “Bo” (Grace) Schneider, Pamela “Blair” Schneider, Lexington, and Lauren (Steve) Columbia Charles, Winchester; and 7 great-grandchildren: Annabelle, Evelyn and Scarlett Schneider, Mia and Ben Schneider, Lexington, and Adlee and Callan Charles, Winchester. Visitation is on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 10:30 – Noon, with the funeral service to follow. Burial is at Winchester Cemetery. Please go to Scobee Funeral Homes website for arrangement and reception location. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and their spouses. Honorary Pallbearers are her nephews: Gene Snowden, Ronnie Snowden, Jeff Snowden, Charlie Estes, Tony Estes, Porter Roberts, Bobby Roberts, and Mark Orme. And her nieces: Wanda Snowden Ballard, Rene Snowden Warren, Lisa Estes Stone, Janie Roberts Smith, Debbie Orme Bush, Sarah Orme Shearon, and Ruth Ann Orme Daniels. |
