Lady Cards volleyball keeps on rollin’

The good times continue to roll for the Region 10-leading George Rogers Clark Lady Cardinals.

The Lady Cards (15-4) captured a pair of victories over District 40 foes to push their current win streak to nine matches.

The host Paris Lady Greyhounds fell victim to GRC in straight sets, 25-7, 25-8, 25-5, last Thursday, Sept 21.

Senior Kelsey McKeehan had 33 of GRC’s 34 assists, along with five service aces. Sophomore Teigh Yeast and freshman Mia Pendley combined for 28 of the Lady Cards’ 38 kills. GRC spread the wealth across the dig category with 11 different

Lady Cards getting one, and senior Kamryn Toler led the way with five. Senior Ella Lowe had a team-high six service aces.

On Tuesday, GRC was triumphant in an even sweeter straight-sets victory, 25-22, 25-15, 25-23, over the visiting Montgomery County Lady Indians.

Pendley rose to the occasion by recording 22 of the team’s 29 kills. Toler notched 15 of GRC’s 51 digs. While McKeehan had 30 of 36 assists and ten digs. Senior Jordan Thompson had five of the Lady Cards’ 15 blocks. Lowe stuffed the stat sheet with nine digs, five kills and three blocks.

The Lady Cards will rematch Bourbon County at home on Thursday. The first serve is at 7:30 p.m. GRC defeated the Lady Colonels in three straight sets late last month.

This weekend, the Lady Cards are set to compete in the Fillie Fall Fling at Harrison County.
