James “Jimi” Langley Castle, 71, husband of Shelly Hunter Castle, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at his home. A native of Winchester, Kentucky, he was born on August 30, 1952, to the late Lindle Castle and Billye Haggard Palmer. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Jimi retired after 27 years of service in Daviess and Clark County Schools teaching General Science, Biology, Astronomy and Ornithology. He was a member of the National Education Association, Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, and multiple times voted “Teacher of the Year” by his students. Jimi was proud to be honored as a Kentucky Colonel. He was also a fanatical University of Kentucky Basketball fan! Friends will remember him as an accomplished diver, musician, disc jockey, band member, and owner of “Sound Experience” (his record store and DJ company). Jimi was a DJ for years for events, weddings, parties, and “any reason to party!” Jimi designed, supervised, and constructed his own Geodesic dome house with the help of his friends and family, which served as a wonderful home and gathering place. Jimi’s passionate interests made him a positive influence on all who knew him.

Jimi’s hobbies included birdwatching, tracking celestial phenomena, rock wall construction, and record collecting. Traveling in Mexico, Jimi developed a love of Tequila. He played the “Macarena Song” long before other DJs.
