County clerk’s motor vehicle department temporarily closed

A transition to modernize and improve the statewide computer system which processes all motor vehicle transactions in Clark County Clerk’s offices began after the close of business on Friday, Dec.29th, 2023.

Customers can renew online at www.clarkcountyclerk.org, call for phone in renewal at (859) 745-0280 option 1 or in person. The web renewals process will be will be restored Jan. 8th, 2024.

At the close of business on Dec. 29th, AVIS data will be transferred to the new KAVIS system. This transition is expected to take seven to nine full days. KAVIS will go live after the data transition with a few counties onboarding each day until the entire state is on the new system. The Clark County Clerk’s motor vehicle department will make every attempt to open as soon as possible once the system goes live but staff is expecting to be closed from Jan. 1st-10th, 2024. During the closure our recording and elections departments will be open.

The clerk’s office wants to be open everyday is to serve the county to the best of its ability. Staff realizes the closure of our the vehicle department will impact citizens, and are hopeful that the new system will help the office to be more efficient in the future.

• Recording and Elections open Jan. 3rd-5th 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Week of Jan. 8th-Jan. 12th

• Motor Vehicle Department closed until the 10th

• Recording and Elections open Monday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
