The Honorable Colonel Holly Martin Stone took her seat in heaven’s court on the first day of spring. For the past decade, she braved the progression of Alzheimer’s with strength and aplomb. Her passing at home was remarkably peaceful. She was born in Washington, DC, March 29, 1956. She attended the First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Sterling, KY. She had an outstanding 30-year career as a USAF JAG, starting with being the first female criminal prosecutor in the Pacific and ending as Chief Appellate Judge for the USAF Court of Criminal Appeals. She was most proud to serve as Commandant of the USAF JAG School. She is survived by her husband, William Campomanes of Winchester, KY; daughters, Rebecca Campomanes (Nicholas Craig) of Winchester, KY and Anna Campomanes (Robert Twyman) of Winchester, KY; brother, Bob Stone (Jennifer) of Arlington, TX; sisters, Emily Stone of Sharpsburg, KY and Mary Johnson (John) of Mt. Washington, KY; and a grandchild, Lilium Campomanes-Twyman. As well as many friends from her hometown in Mt. Sterling and around the world. She is preceded in death by her parents, George B. Stone and Marietta Martin. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM, Monday, March 25, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church Mt. Sterling, KY with Rev. Jennifer Powell officiating, burial following at Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-5 PM, Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel, Mt. Sterling, KY. Pallbearers will be Bob Stone, John Johnson, Nicholas Craig, Robert Twyman, David Payne, N.H. Stone, Nate Johnson and Grayson Stone.
