Clark Regional Medical Center, a member of the LifePoint hospital network, has been named by The Chartis Group as one of the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals in the country for 2020.

The Chartis Center for Rural Health each February assesses rural hospitals’ performance using the iVantage Health Analytics Hospital Strength INDEX, which rates hospitals using 50 independent indicators across eight “pillars of performance” that cover market, value and finance-based categories.

Clark Regional was one of only two hospitals in Kentucky that made this year’s list. The other was Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana.

“We are honored to be recognized as a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital,” William Haugh, market president for LifePoint Health in Central Kentucky and interim chief executive officer of Clark Regional Medical Center, said in a statement released Thursday. “We constantly strive to improve how we provide care and enhance our patients’ experiences, and we work hard to maintain a culture that empowers everyone to feel ownership over the care and service we provide. We are committed to advancing our mission of making communities healthier, and proud to deliver high-quality patient care close to home for those we serve.”

Formerly known as Clark County Hospital, Clark Regional Medical Center has been serving Winchester and the surrounding region since 1917. It has been part of LifePoint Health since 2010, and in 2012, it relocated from its former site on Lexington Avenue near downtown Winchester to a new $70 million campus on Lexington Road (U.S. 60).

The 79-bed community hospital has more than 75 physicians, 487 employees and 75 volunteers on staff and is fully accredited by The Joint Commission, according to information on its website.

“The Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital award program reminds us that rural providers haven’t lost touch with their mission and are committed to delivering better quality, better outcomes and better patient satisfaction. It’s a pleasure to be able to not only recognize this year’s recipients, but our larger group of top 100 alumni as we celebrate 10 years of The Hospital Strength INDEX,” Michael Topchik, national leader of The Chartis Center for Rural Health, said in a press release.
