The Clark County Public Library is suspending all activity and access until April 6 for public health reasons.

CCPL Director Julie Maruskin said the decision was made after discussions with state and local officials. The timing coincides with the closing of Clark County Public Schools and spring break.

The library facility will be closed and outreach services will be suspended through April 6. Patrons are asked not tu return loaned materials until April 6; fines will be suspended until that time.

“In a further effort to help stem the tide of the spread of the COVID-19 virus, all children’s educational tools and toys will be cleaned and put into temporary storage, and donations of books and other materials will not be accepted until further notice,” Maruskin said in a statement Friday. “All materials returned to the library will be treated with EPA / CDC approved cleaning protocol, quarantined and then cleaned again. The facility will undergo deep-cleaning prior to opening.” 

In the meantine, Maruskin said the public can still access the CCPL’s online library at kyunbound.overdrive.com. The maximum amount of ebooks has been increased from 10 to 15, she said.
