James Graham Bordas, 95, died at his daughter’s home in Nashville on April 9, 2020 after a short illness. He was born on April 4, 1925 in Charleston, WV. He graduated from Morris Harvey College, where he played football. Jim served in The United States Navy during WWII, where he was awarded several medals. He was also a lightweight boxing champion in the Navy.

Jim was a longtime resident of Winchester, KY prior to retiring in Cape Canaveral, FL. Jim and his late wife Margaret Anne were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winchester and Our Savior’s Catholic Church in Florida. He served as an usher for over 40 years. Jim and Margaret Anne were married for just under 75 years when Margaret Anne passed away in February 2019.

Jim retired from The State of Kentucky, where he worked for over 20 years in The Department of Labor. More than anything, Jim Bordas loved his large family! He and Margaret Anne raised nine children. They had 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson.

Jim is preceded in death by his loving wife, 3 infant sons, his sons Joseph Patrick, Richard William, and James Graham Jr., a grandson, Sean Bordas, and a daughter in law, Sue Bordas.

He is survived by his children Michael Bordas (Cathy), John Bordas (Marsha), Mark Bordas, Suellen Spruill (Rick), Tom Bordas, and Aimee Giddings, as well as daughters in law Linda Bordas and Lori Bordas. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jamie Bordas (Stacy), Benjamin Bordas (Kim), Andrew Bordas (Kennington), Matthew Bordas (Karen), Joshua Bordas (Jessica), Ashley Smith (Chris), Lindsay Flynn (John), Brett Bordas (Britney), Jay Bordas (Meredith), Alison Bordas, Meredith Heppler (Nathan), Meaghan Spruill, Joseph Bordas, William Bordas, Morghan Pangraze (Alex), and Taylor Counts (Jordan), 35 great grand-children one great, great grandson, and a sister, Mary Ann Shuler.

A graveside service will be held at The Winchester Cemetery on Tuesday, April 14 for immediate family. A memorial service will be held at an undetermined date in the next few months. In lieu of flowers, The Bordas Family asks for donations to The American Cancer Society or The Alzheimer’s Association.
