—A Governor’s Scholar was incorrectly identified in the May 8 edition of the Sun. The student’s name is actually Victoria Johnson.

Fix A Cat campaign meeting is Thursday

Fix a Cat Campaign will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Clark County Public Library. DeeDee Lloyd, founder and president of HOPE low-cost spay/neuter clinic in Versailles, will be the guest speaker. Her topic will be “Hope Clinic: How it got started and what it does,” followed by a question and answer session. Residents are welcome. The Clark County 4-H Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at the Extension Office.

School board meeting is May 16

The Clark County Board of Education will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. May 16, at Central Office, 1600 W. Lexington Ave. The meeting is open to the public.

African-American Health discussion is May 19 

There will be a discussion as part of the African-American Health Series called “Let’s Get Active,” from 10 a.m. to noon at The Generation Center, 32 Meadow Lane. Fiscal Court meeting Wednesday

The Clark County Fiscal Court will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Clark County Courthouse. The agenda includes a public hearing about use of county road aid funds.

Clark 4-H Council meeting May 16

The Clark County 4-H Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16 at the Extension Office, 1400 Fortune Drive.

Share night at Bojangle’s to benefit animal shelter 

From 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Bojangle’s in Winchester will host a share night with 10 percent of all sales going to the Clark County Animal Shelter. The animal shelter will also have door prizes and animals available for adoption.

Flag retirement ceremony is May 27

The Central Kentucky Coon Hunters Association will have its annual flag retirement and veteran appreciation ceremony at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at the club’s property at 3601 Pine Ridge Road. A meal will be at 6 p.m. followed by the flag retirement ceremony at 7 p.m. For more information, call 771-0866. It is open to the public.

Bluegrass Heritage Museum trolley tours scheduled

The Bluegrass Heritage Museum Trolley Tours for 2017 will begin today.

The following tours have been scheduled:

— Today: Visit the Lower Howard’s Creek Waste Treatment Center to learn how the operation works.

— May 16: Visit the Hubbard Taylor Cemetery and Spring Hill.

— May 23: Visit the late 1790s historic home of Joan Mayer and enjoy a tour and a box supper.

— May 30: Visit First Baptist Church on Highland Street and Broadway Christian Church to learn about history and preservation efforts.

Reservations are required by calling the Bluegrass Heritage Museum at 745-1358 between noon and 4 p.m. The May 9, May 16 and May 30 tours are $10. The May 23 tour is $20, which includes a boxed dinner. The May 23 tour is full with a waiting list. The bus will leave the museum at 5:30 p.m. Please arrive early to pay for your tour and board the bus.

Kiwanis Club to meet May 17

Kiwanis chairperson Dave Mullen, owner of the Craft Nook, will serve as host for Lisa Whitaker, executive director of New Beginnings, during a lunch at noon Wednesday, May 17, at Taste of China on Bypass Road.

Human Services Council to meet May 16

The next Clark County Human Services Council meeting will be at noon Tuesday, May 16, at Arby’s. All human services agencies serving Clark County are invited to send a representative.

Hospital to celebrate 100th anniversary 

Robert Parker, new chief executive officer of Clark Regional Medical Center, will be joined by leaders from LifePoint Health for a community celebration of Clark Regional’s 100th anniversary from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday. In addition, CRMC will host a community health fair as part of the weeklong celebration, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13. Both events are at CRMC, 175 Hospital Drive.

Youth fishing day May 13

The Clark County Fish and Game Club’s annual youth fishing day will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at the clubhouse on Water Works Road. The event is free and open to all youth 15 and younger. Lunch and beverages will be provided.
